i love this! my mom used to use this strategy on us when we wanted a snack. “You can have any and as much fruit as you want!”

salsa!
i love salsa. for awhile i was eating an entire container of fresh salsa nearly everyday, and i had to quit cold turkey because the acid was giving me terrible stomach aches. plus it was getting expensive—the kind i like, fresh from the deli, was kind of putting a dent in my grocery budget.
so i tried making my own. it never turned out as delicious until i found this recipe. it was...
I ran into Samuel L. Jackson in California…I think he got mad when I couldn’t...
– my dad (via chelseakim)
i was never an athletic child. actually, anything involving strength, coordination, speed or exertion made me feel incapable and insignificant. from a young age, i decided i “couldn’t do sports,” so i never did—and for the most part, i got away with it. i was always the one who sat on the sidelines during pick-up games of ultimate frisbee or soccer. save for one semester of...
you all dodged that bullet
the first thing i thought when i heard Beyonce’s “sweet dreams” was, “wish i was a really incredible dancer so that i could choreograph a little routine to this song and upload it to youtube.” sometimes i make myself literally LOL. but seriously. i guess the next best wish is to be in a zumba class so maybe the instructor would use this song and i could pretend i knew...

like a parisian in chicago
via this week in chicago i was delighted to: have breakfast with my little sister at 3rd Coast and breakfast with katie p at Nookies find loads of gluten-free snacking opportunities at trader joe’s drink lots and lots of flower of hawaii tea from tea gschwendner visit dogs at the anti-cruelty society of chicago try a torta at rick bayless’s new resturant, xoco. (and see the man...
I've been dismayed to discover gluten in:
most soy sauces (but Braggs is a good alternative) some ketchup brands almost everything on taco bell’s menu (up until two weeks ago i was still secretly munching soft tacos once in a while… does that make me a bad person?) sticky rice snacks from trader joes (they’re supposed to be RICE!) kit kat bars, the only candy bar that i like.
in chicago
until sunday evening. although i might try to fly standby so i can get home a little earlier. i love it here but there’s one big issue i have with this city that i’d completely forgotten about: i am terrified of pigeons.
chelseakim:
just one of the latest adventures. :)
my little sister is spending a year doing missions work in 11 different countries all over the world. this video finds her in serbia; she and her team are currently in albania helping campus crusade produce a josh macdowell event. find out more here: http://chelseadipaolo.theworldrace.org/
would you stand up and walk out on me
sometimes, the very thing you don’t want to happen is the thing that does happen. for example, as of this week i am no longer eating gluten. i’ve had several chronic (minor) health issues that i’ve always hoped weren’t related to a gluten allergy/intolerance. but they probably are. so. i’m doing a three-week no-gluten trial run, and already four days into it i feel a...
